Mission and Beliefs

1. To further the revelation of the glory and righteousness of God within the institution of Parliament and the spheres of Federal and State Government, building on the foundation of Australia as “A Christian Commonwealth” as originally described in 1901 in the formation of the Commonwealth of Australia.

1.2 To promote true welfare for the people of Australia by bringing all legislation into conformity with the will of God as revealed in the Holy Bible, with a redemptive emphasis on the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18).

1.3 To support and build on our Christian heritage by promoting the Judeo-Christian ethic with pro-marriage, pro-family, pro-child, pro-moral, pro-life and pro-Australian policies.

1.4 To endorse, nominate and support the election of Christian candidates into State and Federal Government, especially in the upper houses of Parliament, as also in the Legislative Assemblies.

1.5 To uphold our Christian-based constitutional monarchy and Westminster system of government with the policies of Australian Christians as a political movement respecting the sovereignty of Australia.

Outdoor Portrait Of Multi-Ethnic Crowd

As Australian Christians we seek to “raise a standard in the land” (Jeremiah 51:27) to see righteousness exalt our nation (Proverbs 14:34); fulfil our Lord’s command to “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16); and faithfully relay His voice and nature within the contemporary sphere of Australian politics: “You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent” (Isaiah 62:6); “For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil” (Romans 13:3).

Mission Statement

One God
We believe in one eternal God, self-existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
distinguishable but indivisible. We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the only Saviour of
humanity from sin (John 3:17).

The Bible
We believe the Holy Bible to be the inspired, inerrant written Word of God, and the final authority in all matters, above human laws and government (2 Timothy 3:16–17).

Three Institutions
We believe that God has ordained three institutions: the family, the Church and civil government, each with its own special responsibilities, duties and authority.

The Family
We believe that the family, consisting of those individuals related by blood or marriage, is the foundational social unit of a nation. The family has primary responsibility for the welfare, education and property of its members. We believe that civil government must respect the sanctity of the family and its unique sphere of authority and should preserve and promote the optimum conditions in which the integrity of the family unit can be maintained and helped to flourish.

Marriage
We believe Jesus Christ taught and reaffirmed that God created mankind as male and female and designed for a man and a woman — as husband and wife — to live together honourably in a lasting, loving, lifelong, faithful covenant relationship. We believe marriage is a sacred relational covenant and the context in which God intended husband and wife to procreate and lovingly raise and nurture children. We believe that marriage is a fundamental basis of Christian life in which fathers and mothers are united in providing help, comfort and companionship to one another and their children as a family.

Sexual Morality
We believe that God has established laws of sexual morality for the well-being of society. These laws provide solid foundations for a wholesome life.

Right to Life
We believe that God is the Author of life and that human life originates and is sacred from the moment of conception. We oppose abortion, as it brings harm to both the mother and child. In order to make an informed decision, pro-life information should also be equally available and accessible. We oppose euthanasia and support better palliative care options. We believe that every person, from conception to their old age and natural death, should enjoy the right to life within a caring society.

Parental Rights
We believe that parents have the primary responsibility before God for child-rearing, nurturing and the education of their children. We believe that Christian parents should be allowed to act according to their conscience.

Education Excellence
We believe in the importance of excellence in education in both government and non-government schools. Schools should be allowed to freely operate and educate with a Christian ethos. We also believe in the implementation of appropriate programs that address the well-being of all students.

Family Impact Analysis
We pledge to test government policies and initiatives using our Guiding Family Principles to assess impact on the family.

The Guiding Family Principles
Does the policy or initiative

  • uphold the preservation and integrity of the family unit?
  • reflect the Christian belief in the family as the basic unit of society?
  • uphold the view that marriage is between a man and a woman (husband and wife) relative to other forms of union?
  • uphold family household tax and welfare supplements favouring the family unit, particularly families with dependent children?
  • hold parents responsible in law to provide for their children regardless of divorce, re-marriage, separation or casual conception?
  • encourage an educational curriculum that upholds Judeo-Christian principles and ideals?

The Church
We believe that the Church, as the Lord’s Body of believers, is charged and commissioned to proclaim and express God’s truth, setting an example inwardly and outwardly of godly living to the world. Without use of physical coercion, the Church challenges human conscience as to what is right.

Church and State
We believe that the separation of the structure of the organised Church and the State in Australia does not mean the separation of Christian faith from government. No nation can survive or thrive within a moral and spiritual vacuum.

Judeo-Christian Ethic
We believe that the Judeo-Christian ethic as taught in the Holy Bible should be the foundation for our laws, education and culture.

Recognition of other Religions
Though predominantly a Christian nation, Australia does recognise freedom of religion and the right of all citizens to worship according to their faith.

Promoting Christian Principles
We believe that as Australian Christian citizens, it is our responsibility, mission and mandate to do all we can within the law to actively promote Christian principles, ethics and faith as the most effective basis for Australian law, legislation, society and culture. We defend, uphold and build on the Christian basis that already exists.

Civil Government
We believe civil government to be under the authority of God (Romans 13:4). Civil government is a God-ordained institution with authority to deal only with the outward needs of people. Both Church and State carry unique responsibilities before God: neither should seek to usurp the other’s role, and neither can be free of the other’s influence. We believe that the purpose of civil government is to ensure freedom and justice for a nation’s citizens by establishing and upholding law and order in accordance with biblical principles. We believe that the decision-making processes and rulings of civil government should not contravene biblical teaching and dictates.

Australia as a Christian Commonwealth
Our Christian heritage has seen the establishing of foundational Christian principles under which Australia must operate. These principles are recognised when our Federal and State parliaments open in prayer. We believe in a free and independent democratic Australia. We seek to uphold our Federal and State Christian-based Constitutions, our Christian-based constitutional monarchy and Australian flag. We seek to strengthen our relationships with those countries with which we share a common heritage and/or countries that demonstrate a commitment to freedom and the Judeo-Christian ethic.

Law and Order
We believe that it is the duty of every citizen to submit to God-ordained governing authority. The primary responsibility of civil government is to protect the lives of a nation’s citizens and ensure that those who violate law and order receive just and appropriate punishment. Crime should never carry with it a reward, and therefore the biblical principle of restitution and compensation to victims of crime should be enforced.

Taxation
We believe that taxation should be with representation at every level of government. We believe that as citizens, we are obliged to sustain civil government through just and fair taxation. As Jesus taught, we believe we are to “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21).

Free Enterprise
We believe that the biblical principles concerning economics and stewardship should consistently and actively be respected and upheld by all levels of government. We believe in upholding the principles of responsible free enterprise whilst upholding our responsibilities before God in dealing rightly with our fellow man. We support economic policies that foster a stable mixed economy (private and public) with low inflation and high employment (especially for young people) as well as genuine co-operation between employers and employees in an atmosphere that minimises industrial disputes.

Defence and Protection of Freedom
We believe that the Federal Government should build and maintain an adequate military preparedness to protect Australia’s unique identity and sovereignty from external attack or internal subversion.

Mass Media Morality
We believe that the moral standards of mass media (including television, films, videos, internet, radio and print media) must not degrade the morality of our nation. We seek to eliminate excessive violence, sexualisation, and obscenity. We need to protect the innocence of our young lives.
